Special Saturday Meeting
November General Meeting
Guest speaker Steve Krasnow
"How Nature can Nurture Both our Physical and Mental Health"
Saturday, November 16, 2024 10:30 – Noon
The Gathering Place
Steve Krasnow will discuss what motivated him to take up hiking and kayaking, as well as the joy of being outdoors. He will address the various levels of hiking, from easy to moderate, including some of the challenges that may be encountered. He will reference paths/trails in the Village and those nearby. Steve will also review needed preparations, such as having the correct trail gear, trail information, basic first aid, and safety, among other issues. Steve hopes his talk will motivate others to establish their own exercise goals to help us as we age.
Steve and his wife, Rose, moved from Maryland to Fearrington Village in the summer of 2019. Since 2006, Steve has covered more than10,000 miles hiking/backpacking and, since 2010, over 5,000 miles kayaking throughout North America. Steve was born in White Plains, NY, attended Scarsdale High School and from there attended Washington University (St. Louis) majoring in Business. Nine days after graduating, he and Rose were married. They both attended UNC-CH for graduate school and lived joyously in Glenn Lenox. Steve received his MBA. He held positions in Washington DC after a short stint in Indianapolis and then lived for 39 years in Rockville, MD before following their hearts back to NC. In addition to his hiking and
kayaking interests, Steve studies economic and monetary history and has started giving seminars on Bitcoin to local CCRC groups.
